I never, ever, ever, even after 9/11, thought I’d be watching a national telethon raising money to restore the areas I grew up in, vacationed in, lived in, and socialized in for 27 years of my life.

When New Jersey governor Chris Christie said the roller coaster at Seaside Heights was in the ocean, he wasn’t kidding around.

“The level of devastation at the Jersey Shore is unthinkable,” Christie told reporters at this morning’s press conference. “The whole north side of [Seaside Heights] is totally under water.”

1. Bug out and refuse to believe it’s really happening. Flick the light switch like, 700 times.

2. Binge eat everything in your fridge. Create wacky meals out of what might go bad.

3. Play hide and seek. Best childhood game ever.

4. Write a radio play and act it out in the dark. How very 1940s of you!

5. Stare out the window and contemplate what you’re doing with your life. JK, don’t do that.

I VOTE FOR BINGE EATING THEN PASSING OUT ON THE BATHROOM FLOOR CRYING OUT THE CALORIES. AW YEAH.

- Cabin fever is the worst fever and I don’t think even more cowbell would help.

- Power still on (*knocks on a billion pieces of wood*), cable has behaved itself, internet is being a jerk which sucks when we are expected to work from home.

- No work again tomorrow.

- Been through a lot of bad storms in my life and have still managed to learn new ways wind can sound. Have also heard two loud crashes in the past hour and a bunch of sirens. Really hope they were trees falling on the street and not onto houses and/or cars.

- Very worried about all of the people I know living in NJ & NYC. My heart, as always, remains up there and is very heavy tonight.

- Think it’s just about wine o’clock so I’m gonna go choose which bottle to open.

Soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Regiment continue to stand guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Monday morning, despite the worsening weather conditions surrounding Hurricane Sandy. The tomb has been guarded continuously since 1948.

I’m not crying, it’s just Hurricane Sandy on my face.

This is beautiful but I’m just a few miles from there and it’s starting to sound REALLY SCARY outside.  Really hope they stay safe.

On one hand there’s a giant, scary, record setting storm heading my way. On the other hand, NO WORK TOMORROW!!!

I’ve got my essentials (wine, baked goods, fully charged electronics that should last awhile if the power goes out) and my fingers crossed.

Stay safe, fellow Mid Atlantic East Coasters!!

One of the many reasons I have to be careful about listening to Bruce at work.  1 minute into the song and I’m sobbing at my desk.

I’m GOING HOME THIS WEEKEND, GUYS.  Clearly I need it.

Also? Was there anyone hotter than Bruce in 1975? I don’t think so.
