Hey, Tumblr:
This is so far apart from the kind of post I usually make on Tumblr its taken me two days to figure out how to write this.
Two friends of mine, Michael Hall and Michael Roike, were attacked this past weekend. They were jumped while walking two blocks from where they’d been dropped off by a car service to their apartment. Evidence strongly points to this being a hate crime as the attackers seemed more concerned with beating them than stealing anything from them. The attack was so severe that Michael Hall has been in the hospital since and had his jaw operated on yesterday.
This has been covered by several news outlets that have done a better job of describing the severity of the situation than I can: NBC, FOX, Washington Blade, Prince of Petworth.
Michael Hall is a yoga instructor with no health insurance and the Michaels are also recovering from an apartment fire last month that has temporarily displaced them.
Several fundraising efforts have started to help cover the cost of Michael’s medical bills.
Friends of Michael Joel Hall and Michael Roike is a Facebook group that leads to a Paypal account where you can make a direct donation. Other donation efforts have been posted there as well as updates on Michael’s recovery and the growing news coverage of the attack.
If you live in the DC area you have a few options of in person fundraising events:
COBALT will be donating the proceeds made at the door ($3 cover) this Thursday night.
The DC Yoga community has put together several fundraising events and classes.
If you just have a warm thought/prayer/healing thought/etc. to send their way that’s cool too. I’ve known both Michaels almost as long as I’ve lived in DC and they are two of the brightest, smartest, warmest, awesome people I know. They’ve given back to their friends and their community in so many ways and it’s disheartening and horrifying that they could be attacked like this for being a gay couple.
Amazing show. I love her. (Taken with Instagram at Warner Theatre)
RADIOHEAD | Washington D.C. 6/3/12
Awesome concert last night :)
70% of the shows that I go to these days are small, band on stage with some lights kind of shows and even the slightly flashier ones at 930 Club are still scaled back. It’s been YEARS since I’ve been to an arena show and OMG. Small is great but bigger can be better and I loved every single flashing light and moving screen at last night’s show. I’d been fighting a migraine all day so this should have been hell for me but some minor discomfort then and some lingering blech-ness today aside I loved the large scale and production of it all. And the music IS good enough to stand on its own but that just meant that nothing took away from it. Everything enhanced everything else.
this almost destroyed me last night…
A very hood Edward O’Brien moves to Jonny’s guitar while Clive shakes it with his maracas.

New song! I approve. A lot. I would also pay money to just watch Thom Yorke dance around on stage for hours.

23 ReckonerSo tonight sees Idioteque dropped from the set for the first time on the tour this year (not really a surprise given the issues with the performances in Newark). Other notes:
- Reckoner seems to be finding a regular position as the final song of the night
- Supercollider is becoming a set regular this leg
- This is the first time that There There has ended the main set this year
- Just the third performance of Meeting In The Aisle (first since Tampa)
On the Metro into DC. Day 6 5pm #marchphotoaday (Taken with instagram)
I’ll do or say anything if I believe in it, but I have to believe in the cause.
So on one hand OMGMOVIEWITHGEORGECLOONEYANDRYANGOSLINGYAY! On the other hand? It is apparently based on the play Farragut North which I’ve hated since I first heard of it. Why? Because the Farragut North Metro station is a really annoying Metro station to me and not very easy to get to and makes no sense when Farragut West is right there and it’s not that hard to get to other Red line stations and I always suspected it looked a little different inside and according to the Wiki article I was right. And I know that’s not what the play or movie is about but still.
But on the other other hand if there was a movie out there about George Clooney and Ryan Gosling riding the DC Metro together I’d totally go see it.

Was gonna spend the day camped in front of the A/C with a bottle of wine and some Cougar Town but am making the sweaty trek into DC to see Friends with Benefits with my friends (of the non-benefits kind) instead. YOU BETTER BE WORTH IT, JT!! (Okay, Okay, I’m totally only seeing it because Jason Segel and Rashida Jones are allegedly in it for like 3 seconds.)
Andy: Ok, I put together an album with all the people we’re no longer friends with and I just wanna know why.
Ellie: Okay. Missed my birthday party, talked behind my back, oh too happy all the time, said her house was quaint, named her daughter Chessapique, too old for hair that long,…
Spent a great afternoon at Meridian Hill Park in DC. Need to spend full days outdoors way more often.
